BOOK TITLE: Have a Great One! A Homeless Man’s Story

My husband, son, and I moved from Dublin, Ohio to New York City so our son could attend a performing arts high school. I was immediately drawn to the homeless faces on the streets. After only a few weeks there, I knew that I wanted to learn more about homelessness and hopefully help someone. This book is a result of many, many hours spent with J.C., a homeless panhandler by Carnegie Hall. His story intrigued me and a unique friendship developed between us as I learned more about the challenge of homelessness and the importance of compassion. My book tells about my experience with J.C. and how our friendship made a difference in his life.

Have a Great One! A Homeless Man’s Story is my first book. Although I had done a great deal of journal writing over the course of my life, this book is my first publishing effort. My hope is that it helps others become aware of the problem of homelessness and the importance of compassion.

I was born in Euclid, Ohio and attended Miami University and Ohio State University. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and a Master’s Degree in Special Education. I teach fifth grade in Dublin, Ohio. I have been an educator for the past 20 years in special education and elementary education.

My husband, T.J. and I have been married for 19 years. We have a 17-year-old son, Joey, four dogs, and a cat!

I have been active in teaching her students about homelessness and developed a website containing my lesson plans.   Click here to go to   Teaching Children About Homelessness
